你有语法知识的问题.be动词是am,is,are还有他们的过去时之类的.did是do的过去时,do是助动词而非be动词.
so sudden 是用来修饰“the attack”的.姑且把“so sudden”一整个当做一个形容词,还原倒装就应该是the attack （）so sudden.
